The foundation of a successful school begins in the classroom. With this in mind, Our Lady of Guadalupe School offers an excellent academic curriculum with an emphasis on Catholic values, as well as the attainment of life-long knowledge and skills necessary for the students’ spiritual, moral, intellectual, social, and physical development.
Our teachers go the extra mile when preparing lessons to ensure the academic achievement of all of our students. We recognize that with parents as primary educators, the goal of the school is to help each child realize his or her highest potential.
All curriculum meets the guidelines and requirements set by the Archdiocese of Los Angeles Department of Catholic Schools and is aligned with Common Core Standards for English, Language Arts and Mathematics and the California State Standards for Science and Social studies. As a faith-based learning institution, religious education is part of the course of studies for all students in Transitional Kindergarten through 8th Grade. Religious instruction is based on the Catechism of the Catholic Church and diocesan standards. In addition to these subject matters, students also participate in art, music, performing arts, and physical education.
Programs
Art Trek
Art Trek is an independent, hands-on art program with experienced staff who visit OLG classrooms on a monthly basis. They present quality lessons to students in all grade levels with hands-on activities using a variety of methods and strategies for innovative art projects.
Title I
Students who meet the program criteria receive additional learning assistance through the Title I supplementary literacy program in collaboration with the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD).
