book-2814039_1920The foundation of a successful school begins in the classroom. With this in mind, Our Lady of Guadalupe School offers an excellent academic curriculum with an emphasis on Catholic values, as well as the attainment of life-long knowledge and skills necessary for the students’ spiritual, moral, intellectual, social, and physical development.

Our teachers go the extra mile when preparing lessons to ensure the academic achievement of all of our students. We recognize that with parents as primary educators, the goal of the school is to help each child realize his or her highest potential.

All curriculum meets the guidelines and requirements set by the Archdiocese of Los Angeles Department of Catholic Schools and is aligned with Common Core Standards for English, Language Arts and Mathematics and the California State Standards for Science and Social studies. As a faith-based learning institution, religious education is part of the course of studies for all students in Transitional Kindergarten through 8th Grade. Religious instruction is based on the Catechism of the Catholic Church and diocesan standards. In addition to these, students participate in electives like art, music, performing arts, and physical education.

Onward Readers provides professional development for the teachers and principals, a program director to oversee implementation, a reading specialist to provide support of interventions and differentiation, and all of the necessary resources for implementation.

The Onward Readers literacy initiative is largely provided thanks to a partnership between the John H. and Cindy Lee Smet Foundation and the Department of Catholic Schools.
